Uzbekistan Becomes Founding Member of Board of Peace at Davos Ceremony

Davos, January 22 — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in the official signing ceremony of the Charter of the Board of Peace held in the Swiss city of Davos.The high-level event was chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and attended by heads of state, prime ministers, and foreign ministers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Argentina, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Morocco, Mongolia, Paraguay, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and several other countries.The establishment of the Board of Peace is in line with Uzbekistan’s foreign policy priorities, which emphasize the promotion of peace initiatives, conflict resolution, and strengthened multilateral cooperation.

The new body is being formed as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, endorsed by a United Nations Security Council resolution.The Board of Peace aims to reduce the risks of further escalation and to create favorable conditions for the economic and social recovery of the Gaza Strip. It seeks to support the vision of a New Gaza—with a sustainable economy, peaceful living conditions, and a renewed prospect for the establishment of a Palestinian state.Comprising respected and influential leaders from around the world, the Board is designed to play a constructive and practical role in advancing peace and stability in the region.By signing the Charter, Uzbekistan became one of the founding states of the Board of Peace, reaffirming its commitment to active participation in the Board’s work and to making a meaningful contribution to the implementation of its mandate in close cooperation with fellow founding members and international partners.
