TEHRAN (NNP) In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif met with the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, in Tehran today. The meeting was marked by the Prime Minister’s heartfelt condolences on the tragic passing of President Ebrahim Raisi and his colleagues. Prime Minister Sharif lauded President Raisi as a visionary leader dedicated to serving his nation and its people.
Reflecting on President Raisi’s visit to Pakistan in April 2024, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the late leader’s pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations. He assured that Pakistan remains committed to continuing President Raisi’s vision, aiming to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation.
Expressing solidarity with the Iranian people, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to deepen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood with Iran. He also commended President Raisi’s efforts towards the unity of the Muslim Ummah and his support for the besieged people of Gaza, noting that these contributions will be remembered in history.
Supreme Leader Khamenei conveyed his gratitude towards the government and people of Pakistan, acknowledging the importance of their relationship. He expressed commitment to advancing the vision of the late President Raisi regarding Pakistan-Iran ties.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar. Prime Minister Sharif also extended an invitation to Supreme Leader Khamenei to visit Pakistan, aiming to further cement the bilateral relationship.
