Lahore (NNP) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided to appoint Gary Kirsten from South Africa as the white-ball coach and Jason Gillespie from Australia as the red-ball coach for the men’s national team, as per sources revealed to Geo News.
Formalities are being finalized, and an official announcement is expected after the completion of the process. The PCB has advertised the coaching positions on its website, with applications open until April 15.
This decision comes ahead of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled to commence on April 18. The team’s next major assignment is the T20 World Cup, slated to take place in the United States and West Indies in June.
These coaching roles were vacant after Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were reassigned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, following a change in the PCB setup in November 2023. The trio officially departed from their positions in January this year.
In April 2023, Arthur was named Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, Bradburn assumed the role of head coach of the national men’s side, and former South African cricketer Puttick served as a batting coach since April 2023.
Additionally, the PCB has opened applications for the position of assistant head coach until April 20. The requirements include a minimum level II coaching accreditation and three years of experience with an international team, franchise, or domestic team.
