Pakistan-Russia Strengthen Ties: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pushes for Enhanced Cooperation

Islamabad (NNP) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia, particularly in energy, trade, and investment sectors. He extended heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of lives in the recent Crocus City Hall attack near Moscow, affirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Russia during this difficult time. During a meeting with Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored the importance of convening the 9th session of the Inter-governmental Commission promptly, urging Russia to send a delegation to Pakistan for discussions on enhancing trade and investment ties. Reflecting on their previous interaction at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in 2022, he reiterated an invitation to President Putin to visit Pakistan and expressed gratitude for Putin’s congratulatory message on his re-election. Ambassador Khorev reciprocated, highlighting Russia’s eagerness to bolster relations with Pakistan across various domains, including education and culture, alongside their active engagement within the SCO.
