Rawalpindi (NNP) In a stunning display of prowess, the Pakistani cricket team emerged victorious against New Zealand in the second T20 match of the series held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Pakistani captain Babar Azam’s decision proved fruitful as the entire New Zealand team faltered, being bowled out for a mere 90 runs in 18.1 overs.
The Pakistani bowling attack, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, left the New Zealand batsmen struggling to make an impact. Afridi himself claimed 3 wickets, with Mohammad Amir, Abrar Ahmed, and Shadab Khan adding two wickets each to the tally. Naseem Shah also contributed with one wicket, restricting the Kiwis from establishing any significant partnerships.
Despite the efforts of Mark Chapman, who top-scored with 19 runs, and Cole McConchie, who contributed 15, the New Zealand batting lineup failed to withstand the relentless pressure imposed by the Pakistani bowlers. With no other batsman managing to reach double figures, New Zealand found themselves in a precarious position.
Chasing a modest target of 91 runs, the Pakistani team showcased their batting prowess, achieving victory in the 13th over with only three wickets down. Mohammad Rizwan led the charge with an impressive 45 runs, supported by Mohammad Irfan who remained unbeaten with 18 runs.
Though New Zealand managed to claim a few wickets, courtesy of Ben Lister, Sodhi, and Bracewell, their efforts were overshadowed by Pakistan’s commanding performance.
With this win, Pakistan takes the lead in the five-match T20 series, gaining momentum and confidence for the upcoming matches. As the series progresses, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate more thrilling encounters between these formidable opponents.
