Islamabad (NNP) Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, candidly addressed the issue of unity within the national cricket team during a recent press conference at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Naqvi highlighted the importance of unity among players, citing the missed opportunity in the 5th T20 against New Zealand as a clear example. Despite facing a less formidable opponent, the team’s lack of cohesion resulted in a missed victory.
Acknowledging that even brothers in a household face disagreements, Naqvi emphasized the necessity of addressing internal challenges within the team. However, he expressed optimism about the current state of unity and stressed the need for stability to benefit everyone involved. Naqvi also clarified that decisions regarding team composition, including the selection of captains and vice-captains, lie within the purview of the selection committee, not solely with him.
Furthermore, Naqvi outlined the PCB’s strategy to improve team performance, including a blend of local and foreign coaching expertise to identify and rectify mistakes. He emphasized the importance of foreign coaches in enhancing the skills of players and facilitating communication, even offering English lessons for those in need.
