March 11, 2024) – In a ceremony held at the President’s House, President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to the newly appointed federal cabinet members, proposed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from the coalition parties. Notable figures among the appointed ministers include Ishaq Dar, Mossadegh Malik, Khawaja Asif, and Ahsan Iqbal. Interestingly, Ishaq Dar and Mossadegh Malik will retain their positions as federal ministers beyond their Senate terms.
Furthermore, under Clause 9 of Article 91, additional appointments such as Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Cheema, and Mohsin Naqvi were made. The event witnessed significant participation, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, and top military officials attending. Notably, Asif Ali Zardari marks a unique presidency, being the only civilian to serve for a second term.
Amidst tight security, the presidential transition was executed smoothly, with personal belongings transferred to the President’s House under the supervision of Zardari’s personal secretary, Rukhsana Bangash.
