The University of Sargodha (UoS) observed the Republic Day of Turkiye with a flag hoisting ceremony and seminar to celebrate Turkiye’s transformation into a modern democratic republic and to reaffirm the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Turkiye.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Turkish national flag by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, followed by a special prayer for peace and prosperity in both nations. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Awan highlighted the historic bond of brotherhood and cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye, paying tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk for his visionary leadership in shaping modern Turkiye.
He noted that the Republic Day serves as a reminder of how unity, faith, and dedication lead nations toward progress and resilience. The event, organized by the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum, also featured remarks from Dr. Munir Gujjar, who extended warm greetings to the people of Turkiye and expressed optimism about the continued strengthening of bilateral ties.
As part of the celebrations, a seminar at University Radio discussed the historical and diplomatic relations between the two nations, featuring speakers from the Departments of History, Pakistan Studies, and Political Science. The ceremony was attended by faculty members, administrative officers, and students, reflecting the university’s spirit of international friendship and cultural appreciation.
