Islamabad, August 28, 2025 — In line with the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to promote a greener and more sustainable Pakistan, the Federal Minister for Culture and Heritage, Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, formally inaugurated the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) today.
The campaign, launched under the Prime Minister’s directives, seeks to plant millions of trees nationwide with the objective of enhancing Pakistan’s green cover, combating environmental pollution, mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, and contributing towards long-term sustainable development.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Federal Minister emphasized the urgent need to adopt collective measures to protect the environment, highlighting that climate change poses one of the greatest challenges of our time. He urged citizens from all walks of life, especially the youth, to participate actively in tree plantation drives, describing them as a vital investment in the country’s ecological future.
Students from schools and colleges also took part in the ceremony, symbolizing the central role of young people in safeguarding Pakistan’s environment.
The Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign represents a significant step forward in the government’s climate action agenda, aiming not only to increase forest cover but also to restore biodiversity, improve air quality, and create healthier living conditions for communities across the country.
The Ministry of Culture and Heritage, together with PNCA and allied institutions, reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the cultural, social, and environmental fabric of the nation.
