Mardan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority (KPFSA) in Mardan continues its operations against violations of hygiene and food safety regulations. Team 2 of the Food Authority conducted detailed inspections of meat and poultry shops located on Bank Road.
During the operation, led by Assistant Director of Food Safety Ruqia Nawaz Khan, several serious issues were uncovered, including the sale of meat from underage calves, poor hygiene conditions, and the absence of valid medical certificates for staff members. Multiple shopkeepers were issued warnings and given a one-week deadline to comply with all requirements under the Food Safety Act. They were instructed to ensure that meat supply adheres to legal standards and to maintain proper cleanliness in their shops. Failure to comply will result in strict legal action.
Shopkeepers were firmly directed not to compromise consumers’ health under any circumstances.
In a related action, surprise inspections were carried out at milk shops in the Par Hoti area with the help of a Mobile Food Testing Laboratory. During sample testing, water adulteration was found in several milk samples. The adulterated milk, deemed harmful to health, was destroyed on the spot, and the responsible shopkeepers were warned of heavy fines and legal action in case of future violations.
Food Authority officials stated that such inspections will continue in the future to ensure the public has access to pure, safe, and quality food. The public has also been urged to immediately report any complaints to the Food Authority so timely action can be taken.
