Violent and peaceful protests

There have always been peaceful protests and violent protests throughout history. People should have the right to protest and should protest peacefully and in compliance with national laws. However, when protests are contrary to national laws then obviously issues arise. Those who protest should comply with the law and take a responsible approach. There are many ways to convince the masses and an appropriate approach is to have a fact based solid national debate on issues of national concern. The protesters should not resort to violence because violence does not serve any cause.

Recently there have been protests in Bangladesh and the students have toppled the Bangladeshi Government. It is reported that several hundred people were killed during the protests. Every protest serves a different purpose in every country. The student protests of Banglandesh brought about a revolution. In history different types of protests brought about different results. The protests of the late eighties in eastern europe and the soviet union brought about a swift collapse of communism.

Recently there have been violent and non violent protests in the UK. Protesters have the right to protest but the laws of the land must be respected. The police are there to protect and serve the people and hence should be respected, and not attacked. Furthermore, there is no purpose in damaging public or private property.

The laws of the land must be respected. A state can only function efficiently if there is law and order. The United Kingdom has been a leading nation in the world for several centuries. The British ideals and values are respected throughout the world. Furthermore, British legal principles are followed and applied throughout the world. In my opinion, the British Judges are amongst the best in the world.

As far as protests are concerned they should be peaceful and serve a purpose. Freedom of speech should be respected universally. Furthermore, speech should not incite violence or breach national laws.

The purpose of a protest is to register a concern. Sometimes the purpose of a protest is to bring about a change in government policy. At times, there are protests as regards issues concerning humanity. The government of the day needs to take into account all constructive, legitimate and appropriate issues that give rise to protests. The issues that give rise to protests should be discussed, debated and addressed at the national level.
