Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and said that the nation is mourning over this incident.
“I have been told that there will be an immediate investigation by the Ministry of Defense and in particular by the (Royal Malaysian Navy) to find out the cause of the accident,” he said.
Incidents of helicopter crashes are not common in the Southeast Asian country.
Last month, a Malaysian Coast Guard helicopter crashed in the Strait of Malacca with no casualties.
