The Founders Panel Secures Historic Clean Sweep in COMSATS University Islamabad Statutory Bodies Elections 2026

Islamabad: COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has successfully conducted the Statutory Bodies Elections 2026 for the Senate, Syndicate, Academic Council, and Representation Committee of the Senate. The Founders Panel has achieved a historic and unprecedented victory by securing all 19 elected seats across all statutory forums. This remarkable outcome marks the third consecutive term in which the Founders Panel has won every elected seat since COMSATS attained university status under the CUI Act, 2018.

CUI is governed by its Senate, chaired by the President of Pakistan in the capacity of Chancellor, while the Federal Minister for Science and Technology serve as the Pro-Chancellor. In the Senate elections, the Founders Panel secured all four faculty representation seats including Prof. Dr. Rab Nawaz, Dr. Muhammad Shakeel Aslam, Engr. Nauman Khan Tareen and Mr. Taimur Sajjad. In the Syndicate elections, the Founders Panel also secured all elected seats including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yasin, Prof. Dr. Mazhar Ali and Prof. Dr. Mudassar Rashid Khawaja. The panel likewise achieved a complete victory in the elections for the Academic Council and the Representation Committee of the Senate, securing all elected positions.

Expressing gratitude after the announcement of the results, the Founders Panel thanked the faculty members across all CUI campuses for their overwhelming support, confidence, and trust. The panel also appreciated the efforts of the university administration, under the leadership of Rector, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, for ensuring the smooth, transparent, and orderly conduct of the electoral process.

The Founders Panel stated that the overwhelming confidence reposed in it by the faculty is both a great honor and a profound responsibility. The panel reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to serving the faculty with integrity, transparency, inclusiveness, and dedication. The panel further expressed its confidence that the Honourable Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Rector, and all other stakeholders of the University will continue to work in a spirit of mutual trust and collaboration with the newly elected representatives to advance faculty-friendly policies, strengthen institutional governance, and implement progressive reforms that reflect the aspirations of the faculty community. The Founders Panel reaffirmed its readiness to work constructively with the University leadership in achieving the shared vision of academic excellence, institutional development, and sustainable progress for CUI.
