Report on 3-Day TOT for District Master Trainers on ECD Parenting

Muzaffarabad, June 30, 2025 A comprehensive three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on Early Childhood Development (ECD) parenting was successfully conducted in Muzaffarabad, aimed at strengthening parenting practices and improving child development outcomes across Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Organized by the SUN Secretariat, Planning & Development Department AJK, in collaboration with the Nutrition Cell of the Department of Health AJK, the training brought together health professionals and district-level trainers from all over the region. The program focused on the Family Care Parenting Package developed by UNICEF, which emphasizes holistic child development — including physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.

The sessions were led by Dr. Saba Shuja, ECD Manager at UNICEF, alongside Dr. Hina Rashid, SUN Consultant AJK, and Provincial Master Trainers Mohammad Kifayat and Fozia Jabeen. Through interactive sessions and group work, participants explored best practices in parenting education and community outreach.

A key outcome of the training was the development of district-level cascade training plans, designed to ensure that the knowledge gained is effectively passed on to frontline workers and caregivers in each district.

The initiative represents a meaningful step toward fostering supportive family environments that enable children in AJK to reach their full potential.
