President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Rejects Indian Protest on British High Commissioner’s Visit, Calls for International Attention to Kashmiri Human Rights Violations

Islamabad:President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has strongly dismissed the protest surrounding the visit of the British High Commissioner appointed by India to Mirpur. He has labeled the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ protest as unjustified and ridiculous. According to Chaudhry, similar visits by various countries’ ambassadors and diplomats have occurred in Azad Kashmir before, and India itself organized the G-20 conference in Occupied Kashmir some time ago. He deems India’s claim of Kashmir as its integral part as out of context, asserting that Kashmir has never been a part of India and is internationally recognized as a disputed territory with clear and unambiguous UN resolutions.

The statement also criticizes India for its actions in Kashmir since the revocation of the special status through Article 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019. The President alleges an increase in brutality and human rights violations against Kashmiris, including illegal arrests, the use of pellet guns causing harm to women and children, and the detention of Hurriyat leaders. Chaudhry calls on the international community to take notice of these alleged crimes committed by India and prevent further atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. The overarching message is that the illegal occupation of Kashmir by India will end soon, and the region will be freed from Indian rule.
