Poland’s National Atomic Energy Agency Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation in Nuclear Safety and Radiation
PRESS RELEASE ISLAMABAD – 24th Sep, 2026: The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) and Poland’s National Atomic Energy Agency (NAEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection,
enhancing regulatory cooperation between Pakistan and Poland.The MoU was signed at the Headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna by Mr. Shahid Rashid, Member (Executive), PNRA, and Mr. Andrzej Głowacki, President, PAA. The signing ceremony was attended by officials from NAEA’s Policy and International Cooperation Bureau and representatives of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the IAEA in Vienna.
The MoU establishes a framework for technical cooperation and the exchange of information, knowledge and regulatory experience in areas of mutual interest. These include nuclear safety and radiation protection, the development and enhancement of regulatory frameworks, regulatory review and assessment, research and development, and professional and regulatory exchanges between the two organizations.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shahid Rashid, Member (Executive), PNRA, said, “This MoU provides an important framework for strengthening cooperation and the exchange of regulatory experience between PNRA and NAEA. It reflects PNRA’s continued commitment to international cooperation and the continuous enhancement of nuclear safety and radiation protection.”Mr. Andrzej Głowacki,
President, NAEA, said, “We look forward to strengthening cooperation with PNRA and to exchanging regulatory knowledge and experience in areas of mutual interest, particularly nuclear safety and radiation protection.”The signing of the MoU adds to PNRA’s network of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with nuclear regulatory authorities and international organizations. It further supports PNRA’s continued engagement with the international nuclear safety community and its efforts to promote the exchange of regulatory knowledge, expertise and experience.
