Islamabad ( NNP ) Senior member of Pakistan Norway Political Club, member of Overseas Community Helping Pakistan, Raja Shahid Mehmood has said that Pakistan is under a mountain of internal and external debt, the total value of which is 130 billion dollars. Most of the 85 state-owned enterprises are running high on losses. The biggest loser is the National Highway Authority, whose annual losses exceed 170 billion. The electricity distribution companies (10 DISCOs) have taken expenses of 450 billion rupees from the national treasury every year. Institutions like PIA, Pakistan Steel Mills and Pakistan Railways are a burden on the government and the nation. At the federal level, 220 billion rupees are being devoted to the protocol. In the budget proposals meeting, he said that the national budget figures are such a hodgepodge that cannot be understood by the common man. The federal budget should be such that the poor and middle class get continuous relief. Raja Shahid Mahmood said that The budget is fiscally responsible and will avoid upward pressure on interest rates. The aim is to support employment, while ensuring that inflation is allowed to come down.
