Pakistan Armed Forces: Our National Pride

A nation’s greatness is measured not merely by its resources or military strength, but by its resolve to safeguard freedom, sovereignty and national dignity. Nations overcome challenges through determination, resilience and sacrifice. These qualities define the Pakistan Armed Forces, whose professionalism, discipline and devotion to the motherland remain a source of national pride.Alhamdulillah, the Pakistan Armed Forces have earned national and international recognition through professional excellence, operational preparedness and commitment to national defence.

Their strength lies not only in modern equipment and training but also in strategic judgement, adaptability and readiness to meet complex security challenges.Pakistan’s security challenges extend beyond geographical borders. The country continues to combat terrorism, including attacks attributed to hostile external sponsorship, at an enormous human cost. Soldiers and innocent civilians have laid down their lives. Terrorism threatens state stability, national cohesion and the peaceful future of our people. Honouring our martyrs also means safeguarding the dignity and welfare of their families.Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, renewed attention to defence preparedness and national security has underscored an essential reality: defending a country means protecting not only its territorial boundaries but also its unity, ideological identity and sovereignty.

Pakistan emerged from a historic political and ideological struggle founded on the distinct identity, political rights and aspirations of the Muslims of the subcontinent. Protecting this homeland requires secure borders, freedom from terrorism, constitutional supremacy and a collective resolve against threats to national cohesion.Safeguarding ideological foundations cannot be achieved through slogans alone. It requires respect for the Constitution and law, justice, religious tolerance, responsible citizenship and fundamental rights. Pakistan’s founding ideals are best served by a state providing security, equal opportunities and dignity to all citizens. The fight against extremism also requires good governance, education, economic development and the elimination of social deprivation. It is unfortunate that certain political and religious circles seek to undermine the armed forces despite their sacrifices against terrorism. In a democracy, criticism of institutions is legitimate when based on evidence and responsibility. Unfounded allegations and inflammatory rhetoric, however, neither strengthen democracy nor serve the national interest.Political differences are inherent in democracy, but must not weaken collective resolve against terrorism. All political and religious forces should build consensus on security and pursue differences through constitutional, democratic and peaceful means.

Alhamdulillah, Pakistan’s political leadership and people stand shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces. This solidarity reflects a fundamental truth: independence, sovereignty and security are collective national assets. Mutual trust and shared commitment among leadership, citizens and defence institutions are indispensable to defeating hostile designs and securing lasting stability. Such unity must be reflected in responsible public conduct, constructive political engagement and confidence in national institutions. It should also encourage every citizen to contribute, through lawful and peaceful means, to national progress and the protection of the country’s shared interests.Within this national context, Azad Jammu and Kashmir holds particular strategic and ideological significance. The region forms an important part of Pakistan’s defensive perimeter and remains closely connected with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and their unfinished struggle for self-determination. Its geographical location, mountainous terrain and sensitive border areas give it exceptional importance for national security. The Pakistan Armed Forces have consistently demonstrated vigilance and professionalism in protecting this region. Their relationship with its people is rooted in shared history, the defence of Pakistan and the aspirations of the Kashmir freedom movement.

The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have also made significant sacrifices for the homeland.Peace, development and prosperity in the region are integral to Pakistan’s national interests. Its security and people’s welfare require sustained attention, effective governance and policies responsive to their distinctive circumstances and aspirations.Military strength alone cannot guarantee lasting security. A resilient economy, education, scientific advancement, justice, political stability and public confidence are equally essential. The armed forces serve within their constitutional mandate, while political leadership, Parliament, judiciary and administration must fulfil their respective responsibilities with integrity and in accordance with the Constitution. When institutions operate effectively within their lawful spheres, public confidence grows. A strong defence establishment and democratic institutions must complement one another in serving Pakistan. The hallmark of the Pakistan Armed Forces is not only military strength but also courage, discipline, competence and loyalty to the homeland. Our martyrs remind us that safeguarding freedom and peace is a continuous national responsibility. The best tribute to them is to build a stronger, fairer, prosperous and united Pakistan. The soldier at the frontier protects our territorial integrity, but national resilience requires the commitment of all. When defenders remain steadfast, leaders put national interests above partisan considerations, institutions fulfil their constitutional duties and citizens stand united, Pakistan’s sovereignty and dignity grow stronger. This is the hallmark of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the enduring message of our martyrs’ sacrifices and the path towards a strong, sovereign and prosperous Pakistan.Pakistan Zindabad. Pakistan Armed Forces, long may they prosper.
