From Azad Kashmir to the World: Muhadsa Naqvi’s Mission for Global Sustainable Leadership

From the mountains of Azad Kashmir to global forums of leadership and sustainability, Muhadsa Naqvi is on a journey defined by purpose, resilience, and bold vision. An Advocate by profession with a deep-rooted passion for community development, she is proving that true leadership begins with service — and knows no borders.

As the founder of Leading Visionaries, Muhadsa has launched an ambitious mission: to create at least one empowered leader in every household through grassroots awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She believes that when families are informed and engaged, they don’t just adapt — they inspire others. Her vision is to create a ripple effect of informed, compassionate leadership throughout communities, beginning right at home.

Her work focuses especially on SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). She has led initiatives that help young women rise into leadership roles, understand their rights, become economically independent, and develop skills for social advocacy. Simultaneously, she promotes general SDGs awareness as a tool for education, empowerment, and sustainable action.

In 2022, Muhadsa was selected for the prestigious Global UGRAD Exchange Program in recognition of her strong leadership and deep compassion for community service. As part of the program, she spent a semester studying in the United States, where she also completed 20 hours of impactful community service. Through her dedication, Muhadsa proved that the spirit of service knows no borders and that meaningful change can be created anywhere in the world.

This year she got selected for UPG Sustainability Leadership Class of 2025. It’s a flagship program of United People Global (UPG), A Switzerland based NGO. UPG Sustainability Leadership is the world’s largest and most comprehensive sustainability leadership training for young adults. It is a free programme that mobilises people and organisations to support positive citizen leadership on sustainability. This training is possible because of the support of UPG’s partners and collaborators, especially the author and philanthropist, Rosamund Zander. Over 13600+ people have applied to be part of the Class of 2025 of UPG Sustainability Leadership from around 183 Countries and Muhadsa Naqvi is one of them. From the Class of 2024, 1030 UPG Sustainability Leaders from across 100+ countries were trained and certified as part of UPG Sustainability Leadership. They completed an intensive 9-week training to become ambassadors for positive citizen leadership on sustainability. They are now active and leading local projects in their communities. Since 2019 they have directly trained over 86000+ citizens across all world regions (and counting) on how to make the world better through positive action and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Each year, selected groups are chosen for an additional, in-person training on Hurricane Island in the USA. This training is a fully-funded experience that is designed to strengthen each leader for the work they are doing in their communities

“Leadership isn’t about waiting for opportunities,” Muhadsa says. “It’s about creating them — for yourself and for others. I believe change begins with awareness, and awareness begins at home.”

Her journey is a living example of that belief.

Whether training girls in leadership, conducting SDG workshops, or building platforms for youth engagement, Muhadsa is laying the foundation for a more inclusive and informed future. Her work transcends titles and borders — it’s about building communities where justice, equality, and sustainability are not just concepts but daily realities.

From Azad Kashmir to the global stage, Muhadsa’s story is one of courage, conviction, and continuous impact — and it’s only just beginning.
