Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Re-elected President of PML-N Unopposed

Posted on May 28, 2024 by Staff Reporter

Lahore (NNP) Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made a triumphant return to the helm of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), securing the party’s presidency unopposed after six years. Following the resignation of former PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, a pivotal election was held to fill the vacant post, with Nawaz Sharif emerging as the sole candidate.

The nomination process saw eight nomination papers submitted in support of Nawaz Sharif, representing various regions across Pakistan. Notable figures including President Bashir Memon, Amir Makam from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sardar Yaqub from Balochistan stepped forward to endorse Sharif’s candidacy, underscoring widespread support within the party.

Under the meticulous scrutiny of PML-N’s Chief Election Commissioner, Rana Sanaullah, Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers were meticulously examined, ultimately receiving approval. With no opposing candidates in sight, Nawaz Sharif was officially declared the President of PML-N, marking a significant milestone in the party’s leadership landscape.

This development is poised to reshape the political landscape in Pakistan, as Nawaz Sharif, a seasoned statesman with a track record of leadership, assumes the reins of PML-N once again. His return to the presidency is anticipated to invigorate the party’s base and solidify its position in the country’s political arena.
