NNP-Islamabad – May 17 , 2025:Chairman Senate, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, administered the oath of office to Syed Waqar Mehdi, the newly elected Senator, during a formal session of the Upper House held at the Parliament House in Islamabad
The solemn ceremony took place at the outset of the Senate session, with parliamentary members, government officials, and political leaders in attendance. Following the oath, Chairman Senate welcomed Senator Waqar Mehdi to the House and expressed hope that his presence would strengthen democratic values and contribute positively to legislative business.
Senator Waqar Mehdi, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was recently elected to the Senate following a by-election. Known for his longstanding commitment to democratic processes and public service, Mehdi reaffirmed his dedication to representing the people and upholding the Constitution.
Speaking briefly to the media after the ceremony, Senator Mehdi expressed gratitude to his party leadership and supporters. “I am honored to serve in the Senate and will strive to be a strong voice for the people, particularly for the democratic and constitutional rights of all citizens,” he said.
The session continued with regular parliamentary proceedings following the oath-taking.
