Kurram()Pak-Afghan border have disrupted trade and education for the third consecutive day. The region is in turmoil, leading to the closure of educational institutions.
On Monday morning, a barrage of mortar shells from Afghanistan’s Paktia province targeted Borki, a border area in Karam District. This attack sparked a day-long exchange of fire between security forces on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border, involving heavy and automatic weapons.
The exchange resulted in casualties and financial losses on both sides. Additionally, due to the unrest, trade and transit with Afghanistan at the Kharlachi Terminal remained suspended for the second day, alongside the closure of educational institutions.
Efforts by local authorities of both Pakistan and Afghanistan temporarily halted the firing, with a permanent ceasefire slated for yesterday. However, tribal elders Jalal Bangash and Malik Syed Asghar announced that the matter would now be resolved at the diplomatic level, leading to the postponement of the scheduled meeting.
”The ongoing tensions along the Pak-Afghan border have not only disrupted daily life but have also highlighted the need for a lasting peace agreement between the two nations,” said a local resident.
