In Muzaffarabad, on February 21, 2024, a meeting of the Azad Kashmir Public Health Department was convened under the leadership of Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq. Senior officials including Senior Minister Colonel Retired Waqar Ahmad Noor and Public Health Minister Nisar Ansar Abdali were in attendance. During the session, comprehensive briefings were provided by the Director General of Public Health and the Executive Director of the Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences regarding departmental budgets and hospital patient care facilities. Prime Minister Haq directed the formation of a committee tasked with transparent medication procurement within three days, comprising Senior Minister Colonel Retired Waqar Ahmad Noor, the Public Health Minister, the Secretary of Health, the Secretary of Law, and a Pepra representative. Emphasizing the government’s focus on healthcare, Prime Minister Haq assured timely funding for medication supply to prevent patient inconvenience. He pledged to address doctor and paramedic shortages, equip hospitals with modern machinery, expedite repairs of damaged equipment, and implement biometric attendance systems in public health centers. The Prime Minister also committed to addressing the scarcity of specialist doctors in hospitals.
