Islamabad — Archpriest Mikhail Rodin, Head of the Enlightenment Department of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church, paid an official visit to Islamabad, where he held a series of high-level meetings with senior Pakistani religious leaders and government officials.
With the assistance of the Russian Embassy, Archpriest Rodin met with the Grand Mufti of Islamabad, Dr. Mufti Akeel ur Rehman Pirzada; Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi; Additional Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior and Narcotics Control, Salman Chaudhry; Additional Secretary (Europe) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Khalid Jamali; Director General (Europe-II) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shahbaz Hussain; and Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Syed Ata Ur Rehman.
During the meetings, Archpriest Rodin briefed his interlocutors on the activities of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church in Pakistan and underscored the Church’s readiness to strengthen relations with the Pakistani government and leaders of local religious communities.
The Pakistani side welcomed the initiative and expressed support for enhancing dialogue and cooperation. Officials and religious leaders also presented additional proposals aimed at developing constructive engagement with the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church and other Russian religious organizations, highlighting a shared commitment to interfaith harmony and mutual understanding.
