Mardan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority launched major operations in various areas of Mardan, including Bakhshali, Sawaldher, and Jamal Garhi, targeting food outlets for violating food safety regulations and providing substandard food to the public.
According to Assistant Director of the Food Safety Authority Mardan, Ruqia Nawaz , the operations focused primarily on bakeries and other food businesses found guilty of using non-food grade colors, selling banned and substandard beverages, maintaining poor hygiene conditions, and failing to present medical certificates for their workers.
Fines were imposed on multiple businesses, while several others received improvement notices with strict instructions to comply with food safety standards.
Ruqia Nawaz emphasized that the purpose of the crackdown is to ensure food quality and protect public health by providing safe and hygienic food items. She further stated that continuous monitoring of food establishments is being carried out across the region to maintain high food safety standards for the people of Mardan.
