Muzaffargarh, Pakistan – A productive meeting was held on June 12, 2024, at the Directorate of Fisheries District Office, Muzaffargarh, convened by Mr. Muslim Bin Aqeel, CEO of the Research Center for International Maritime Law Practice (RCIMLP), Islamabad.
Dr. Riaz-ud-Din Qureshi, Director of the Saline Water Aquaculture Research Center (SWARC), Directorate of Fisheries Punjab, attended the meeting.
The meeting resulted in a significant step forward in shrimp farming collaboration, with the SWARC final report highlighting potential areas of cooperation. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for future joint research initiatives, knowledge sharing, and best practices exchange.
Key discussions focused on crucial aspects of shrimp farming, including:
– Ensuring access to high-quality shrimp seeds
– Developing and utilizing nutritious and sustainable shrimp feed
Furthermore, the meeting explored opportunities for the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Pakistan to leverage the agriculture and food security sector through shrimp farming. This includes attracting investments, enhancing productivity, and promoting sustainable practices in the industry.
To strengthen shrimp farming ties with the GCC sector, Pakistan plans to:
– Enhance cooperation in research and development
– Increase investment and financing opportunities
– Build capacity and provide training for shrimp farmers
– Promote sustainable shrimp farming practices
– Increase trade and exports of shrimp products
This meeting aims to enhance the shrimp farming industry in Pakistan and GCC countries, fostering economic growth, food security, and sustainable aquaculture practices utlizing Special Investment Facilitation Council SIFC Pakistan.
