Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani introduced the National Minorities Commission Bill

Islamabad (April 1, 2024): Member of the National Assembly Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani introduced a bill for the establishment of the National Commission for Minorities in the National Assembly. Consisting of thirty members, the commission will be headed by a non-Muslim minority community. Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House, Dr. Ramesh Kumar said that the purpose of establishing the National Minority Commission is to ensure the protection of the rights of the minority community as per the Constitution of Pakistan. Necessary offices can be established, the selection panel headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court nominated by the Chief Justice of Pakistan will finalize the recruitment process of the head of the Minority Commission through regular interviews. Thanks to the serious efforts of Dr. Ramesh Vankwani, the said bill was approved by the National Assembly in the previous government period, but it was stalled in the Senate due to the end of the term of the National Assembly. The struggle to protect the rights of minorities has been tried once again by submitting, in the historic decision of the Supreme Court on June 19, 2014, the government was advised to establish a minority commission.
