Punjab Assembly Passes Over 617 Billion Supplementary Budget Amid Opposition Turbulence

Lahore (NNP) In a tumultuous session at the Punjab Assembly, the approval of a supplementary budget exceeding 617 billion rupees was met with both fervent support and vocal opposition. Despite vehement objections from the opposition, the motion for the budget’s approval prevailed, marking a significant milestone in the region’s fiscal trajectory.

The assembly echoed with the impassioned voices of dissent as the opposition made their objections heard during the budget approval process. Amidst the uproar, Opposition Leader Ahmar Rashid Bhatti made a notable return to the assembly following his recent release.

As deliberations continued, the assembly turned its attention to the annual budget and allocation of funds. A total of 42 demands for money were tabled, alongside 7 motions for deduction, adding complexity to the proceedings.

Finance Minister presented a demand of over 30 billion rupees for the irrigation department, sparking a heated debate amongst assembly members. Despite opposition, the demand was ultimately approved, underscoring the assembly’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs.

Further debates ensued as the assembly considered demands for the police department, ultimately granting over 163 billion rupees in funding with a resounding majority vote.

The session culminated with the adjournment of the Punjab Assembly, leaving behind a landscape shaped by the nuanced dynamics of political discourse and fiscal governance.
