Quetta()The preliminary list of candidates for the 11 Senate seats in Balochistan has been unveiled today. The scrutiny of nomination papers will continue until March 19, with appeals allowed until March 21. The Appellate Tribunal will decide on appeals by March 25, leading to a revised candidate list on March 26. Polling is scheduled for April 2 in the Balochistan Assembly. Notably, the vacancies include seven general seats, two for women, and two for technocrats, with 36 candidates from various parties vying for them. Key contenders include Aurangzeb Khetran and Rahila Hameed Durrani from PML-N, Chingiz Jamali and Hasna Bano from PPP, Jan Muhammad Bilidi from PPP and National Party, and Amil Wali Khan from PPP and ANP. Independent candidates and representatives from parties like JUI, BAP, and Jamaat-e-Islami are also in the fray.
