Isalamabad () Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has confirmed writing a letter to the IMF. According to ARYA, PTI sources say that the contents of the letter written to the IMF will be shared with the media soon. The impact on the economy was mentioned.
It should be remembered that the Reuters news agency has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has written a letter to the IMF. A request to the IMF to take into account the political situation before the agreement, the IMF did not respond to an email sent regarding the letter, the IMF said in the email that no letter has been received yet.
PTI’s letter to IMF was sent by Information Secretary Rauf Hasan.
Secretary General PTI Umar Ayub Khan along with other leaders will hold a news conference to inform the media and public about the letter. On the other hand, the global rating agency Moody’s, while maintaining Pakistan’s rating at a stable outlook of “CAA 3”, highlighted the risks of liquidity and challenges on the external front due to highly controversial elections and limited decision-making capacity of the expected coalition government. Moody’s, one of the world’s three major global rating agencies, said it completed its review of Pakistan’s rating last week, but Moody’s announced no credit rating action and no credit rating in the near future, according to a report by the World Financial Journal. No indication has been given regarding the rating action. Moody’s says Pakistan’s long-term rating including “CAA3” has been maintained with a stable outlook.
In February last year, the international rating agency had lowered Pakistan’s sovereign credit rating by 2 levels to CAA 3, due to which the specific risks of default were increasing. The agency observed that political risks are high after the general elections on February 8, 2024.
