Thai Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation
On 15 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation on issues of mutual interest between the Parliaments of Thailand and Pakistan.The discussions focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation through existing mechanisms, particularly the Pakistan–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), as well as collaboration in various multilateral forums. Both sides also explored opportunities to promote cooperation in tourism and trade, including cultural linkages related to the Gandhara civilization and efforts to advance the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and Pakistan.
In addition, the two parties exchanged views on cooperation to address shared challenges, notably climate change, and on promoting women’s empowerment in various contexts, with particular emphasis on women’s participation in politics and gender mainstreaming.The Speaker commended the active role of the Pakistan–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group in strengthening bilateral relations and underscored the importance of closer cooperation between the Parliaments of Thailand and Pakistan for the mutual benefit of both countries.
