This question is very old, are science and religion compatible or are they opposed to each other? The answer to this is, first of all, it is necessary to find the ultimate source of guidance & wisdom,which is the Holy Quran, then it should be analyzed in the light of hadiths, and the last source is wealth of knowledge stored in human intellect and brain cells. IF we start this conversation from the bottom, it will be considered arrogance of our knowledge and it will negate the teachings of Allah the Exalted. The Qur’an entrusted us with knowledge fourteen hundred years ago, when the scientific world was struggling in the dark, it should be seen in the light of Quranic verses and it will enlighten us. Allah Almighty said, “torn the heavens and the earth”, scientific teachings speak of an explosion ,the Big Bang theory and this verse is an indication of the same event and supports scientific belief,providing evidence of this conjecture! Another important scientific point is Darwin’s famous theory of Evolution, in which the birth of man is linked to insects and our Lord says, “We created you in the form of insects, then We gave you the best of form ,in the shape of humans.” Now let’s review human birth, in the Qur’anic verse, “Male and female cells are mixed together”, it is clearly mentioned, science recognized this after many centuries and now it is a confirmed fact. Then stages of embryonic rapid growth of the cells, covering them in different layers and keeping them in the dark room in three membranes. All these facts were described in the Qur’an centuries ago, at that time there were neither any microscopes nor embryologists. All these technical facts were researched centuries later and not only provided proof truth & veracity of the Qur’an, but also poured cold water on the assumption that religion and science are opposites and cannot be reconciled! Now look at the direction of the universe, the Quran says, “The sun, the moon and the stars revolve on their axis.” This subtlety was discovered and acknowledged by science after a long time, first by Copernicus and then by Galileo. . Our creator called the two worlds to subjugate the countless stars, shed light on the vastness of the astronomical world and mentioned the growing solar system. And European white people are taking advantage of it,while muslims are languishing in darkness,stuck in trivialities & dogma of religious teachings.For centuries, man was awestruck by the sight of tall mountains, then Allah compared them to nails in the Qur’an and made them as a means of maintaining the balance providing strength in our world . Recent scientific research has proven the roots of these mountains to be underground, buried miles below, providing further proof of the truth of the Qur’an and the relevance of science in the Qur’an. In the ancient times, we had no knowledge of the depths of the oceans. In the Qur’an, our Molla says, “Hands cant be seen in depths of the oceans.” Allahu Akbar. Fourteen hundred years ago, there was neither a submarine nor a physical shell . And the Almighty God taught us this knowledge and wisdom. Centuries later, man dived into the depths of the sea, saw the surrounding darkness, and not only the teachings of Allah became clear, but His knowledge became apparent to us . Man understood the wisdom of Allah, those who fully believed in the verses of Allah did not test their faith in light of science, but the charisma of faith put the stamp of truth on the assumptions of science. These are some of the examples in showing to us compatibility of religion and science, they disproves assumption that there is a conflict between them. May Allah show us His light of faith and guidance and protect us from the arrogance of worldly knowledge. AmenManzar
