Punjab Police Bolsters Security Measures for Chinese Residents in Pakistan, Ensuring Safety in CPEC Projects

Lahore (NNP) The Punjab Police says that various measures have been taken to tighten the security of Chinese residents living in Pakistan.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Chinese Consulate in Lahore on Saturday and met Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren and expressed deep sorrow and regret over the death of Chinese citizens in Shangla.

According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, ‘On this occasion, IG Punjab expressed determination to ensure the security of Chinese citizens working in ongoing projects under CPEC.’

IG Punjab Police said that the security of Chinese experts and citizens is the first priority in the context of CPEC projects.

“District police and PHP patrolling on all routes of movement of Chinese residents has been made more strict and effective.”

He said that ‘checking of suspicious persons and vehicles is being ensured through special police posts on the routes of Chinese residents.’

The Special Protection Unit is performing the duties of security of Chinese citizens, security of residences, offices, working sites.

According to Dr. Usman Anwar, “Information sharing and mutual cooperation between Punjab Police and China will be further promoted.”

On this occasion, the Consul General of China expressed satisfaction over the security of Chinese experts and citizens working on various projects.

He said that ‘Punjab Police is providing the best security to Chinese citizens on various projects including CPEC.’

DIG Special Protection Unit Montazaar Mehdi and AIG Operations Punjab Dr. Asad Ejaz Malhi besides Chinese Consulate officers were also present in the meeting.
