PTI Nominates Shibli Faraz as Leader of Opposition in Senate; Imran Khan Directs Unified Opposition Movemen

Islambad (NNP) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Senator Shibli Faraz as their candidate for the position of Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House. This decision came following a directive from PTI founder Imran Khan, with all 19 PTI senators formally endorsing Shibli for the role.

In a significant development, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza announced Senator Shibli Faraz’s appointment as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, following a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. This move aligns with Imran Khan’s strategy to consolidate opposition forces against the government.

The formation of a six-party alliance of opposition parties, Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain, has gained momentum, with plans to extend their protest movement nationwide. The alliance, including SIC, will convene a meeting in Lahore on April 29 to discuss the movement’s strategy, marking a significant shift in Pakistan’s political landscape.

Contrary to earlier reports, Imran Khan has refuted statements regarding Saudi Arabia’s involvement in any regime change operation in Pakistan. He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s support during his government, citing examples such as hosting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference and providing financial assistance.

PTI’s Central Information Secretary Raoof Hassan expressed confidence in the movement for constitutional supremacy and the rule of law, anticipating positive developments and Imran Khan’s eventual release from jail. The party also outlined plans for an assertive media policy, aiming to address previously unexplored topics.

Economic discussions included updates on IMF negotiations for a new program and international donors pledging $1.8 billion at a recent conference in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). Imran Khan stressed the importance of the rule of law in fostering trust and investment, signaling a comprehensive approach to address Pakistan’s economic challenges.

With PTI’s nomination of Shibli Faraz, Imran Khan’s directives for a unified opposition movement, and ongoing developments in both politics and economics, Pakistan enters a critical phase of its governance and political landscape.
