Lahore:The general elections of 2024, more than 25 women from many political families of Punjab and Sindh will contest for the general seats of the National Assembly. Hyder Bharwana’s daughter Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Shah Mehmood’s daughter Mehrabano, Jahangir Tareen’s son Ali Tareen and daughter Meher Tareen are also candidates, Maryam Nawaz of the Sharif family from Lahore will be a candidate for the first time, Samira, the granddaughter of Nawab of Kala Bagh from Khushab.Malik is also in the race, among the women candidates who have been declared eligible for the National Assembly, most of the women have been members of the Assembly before. Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mian Shehbaz Sharif’s husband Captain retired Safdar Awan and cousin Hamza Shehbaz are also contesting the National Assembly elections, while Shaista Pervez Malik, her husband Pervez Malik and son Ali Pervez Malik have also been elected members of the assembly from Lahore.
