Rawalpindi (IN): The Rawalpindi-based franchise for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially adopted the name ‘Pindiz’, marking a bold new chapter ahead of the tournament scheduled from March 26 to May 3.The franchise, recently acquired by Walee Technologies for Rs 2.45 billion, unveiled its new identity through a 25-second promotional video released on Sunday. The teaser showcased iconic landmarks of Rawalpindi, complemented by energetic music, highlighting the team’s deep-rooted connection with the city.In a statement shared on social media, the franchise declared: “We’re bold. We’re challenging. We’re bringing the vibe. We’re changing the game,” while hinting that the official logo will be revealed soon. The video ended with the message: “To be continued.”The rebranding comes after significant ownership changes.
The franchise, previously operating as Multan Sultans, became available when former owner Ali Tareen opted not to renew the agreement following PSL Season 10. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) subsequently took temporary control of the team before placing it up for auction.Following a competitive bidding process, Walee Technologies secured ownership, outbidding other contenders including CD Venturers. Under PSL regulations, the new ownership was granted full rebranding rights, with owner Ahsan Tahir choosing to align the franchise’s identity with Rawalpindi.The introduction of ‘Pindiz’ signals a fresh start for the team as it prepares to compete in PSL 11 with a renewed vision and strong local identity.
