Pakistani Alumni Mark 80th Anniversary of Soviet Victory in WWII

ISLAMABAD, May 28 — The Association of Pakistani Graduates from Russia and CIS countries hosted a gala event on Tuesday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War — the Soviet Union’s triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The event was attended by Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, along with senior members of leading Pakistani political parties, prominent businessmen, media representatives, and notable cultural personalities.

Speakers highlighted the critical role played by the USSR in defeating Nazism and liberating Europe from the so-called “brown plague.” The discussions underscored the enduring significance of historical memory and the shared values of sacrifice and resistance.

A major highlight of the event was a book fair, which featured the unveiling of the first Urdu translation of a biography of Russian President Vladimir Putin — a symbolic gesture of cultural exchange and growing literary ties between the two nations.

The gathering reinforced the longstanding bonds between Pakistan and Russia, while honoring the legacy of those who fought in one of history’s most defining conflicts.
