Islamabad (NNP)) In a significant diplomatic engagement, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad today. The leaders underscored the exceptional brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed deep satisfaction with the progress in their bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Turkey across various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, and defense. He emphasized the need to bolster economic ties, noting that the current trade volume does not reflect the strong relationship between the two countries. He expressed a determined goal to elevate bilateral trade to $5 billion annually within the next three years.
In a move to attract Turkish investment, the Prime Minister invited Turkish companies to expand their operations and consider relocating their industries to Pakistan.
The meeting also addressed global and regional issues, particularly the escalating crisis in Gaza. Prime Minister Sharif lauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s efforts advocating for a complete ceasefire and the establishment of lasting peace in the Middle East. He emphasized the importance of a two-state solution for enduring stability in the region.
Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan soon and to co-chair the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting. Both leaders reiterated their resolve to support each other on matters of national interest.
This meeting marks a reaffirmation of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkey, highlighting their mutual commitment to fostering peace and prosperity.
