Pakistan and Russia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties at SCO Meeting

Astana ( NNP) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, highlighting the strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the current positive trajectory of Pakistan-Russia relations. Senator Dar congratulated Foreign Minister Lavrov on Russia’s recent peaceful and successful election process, emphasizing the growing mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

The discussions also focused on recent regional and global developments. Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to work towards deepening and broadening their bilateral ties. To this end, they committed to regularly holding meetings of institutional mechanisms and ensuring follow-up actions are undertaken.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement to hold the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) in Moscow later this year, aiming to further enhance cooperation and partnerships across various sectors.

This meeting underscores the commitment of both Pakistan and Russia to strengthen their diplomatic and economic relations, paving the way for future collaboration and mutual growth.
