MARDAN: In Mardan, papers of 8 ex-members of assembly including 2 ex-ministers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) were rejected.

Like other parts of the country, the scrutiny of nomination papers was completed in Mardan on Saturday.And the concerned returning officers released the lists of candidates.According to the sources, former Minister of State of PTI Ali Muhammad Khan from NA 23, former MNA and district president of PTI Mujahid Khan from NA 21, former provincial minister Atif Khan from NA 22 and PK 59, former members of assembly PK 55 Tufail Anjum, PK 56 Amir Farzand Khan, 57 Zahir Shah Toru, 58 Abdul Salam Afridi and 60 Iftikhar Mashwani were also rejected.

PTI workers arrived in groups in the offices of the concerned Returning Officers in the morning, but the workers became worried when a heavy contingent of police reached the district secretariat along with a prisoner van to maintain security.

Meanwhile, PTI leaders were in constant touch with their leadership for consultation.
