Mardan : Acting on a tip-off, Food Safety Team 2 conducted a swift operation and raided an unlicensed bakery unit located in Doran Abad, Katlang Road, Mardan. During the raid, nearly 600 rotten, filthy, and foul-smelling eggs were recovered. These eggs were being used in bakery products such as biscuits, cakes, and other items, which were intended for distribution in various areas of Mardan.
Assistant Director Food Safety, Ruqia Nawaz Khan, along with her team, conducted the operation just as the spoiled eggs were being used in the preparation of bakery items. The team caught the bakery owners red-handed during the inspection.
Further revelations during the raid exposed the use of substandard and harmful oil, extremely poor hygiene conditions, and the absence of medical fitness certificates for the staff. Due to these serious violations, the bakery unit was immediately sealed, and fines along with legal action have been initiated against the owners under the Food Safety Act.
