KOICA and Sindh Government Collaborate on Restoring the Water Infrastructure and Agricultural productivity in Flood Affected areas of Sindh

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on 21 August 2025 that it has signed a Record of Discussions (ROD) with the Planning & Development Board of the Government of Sindh for the project titled “Agricultural Productivity and Rural Village Water Supply Enhancement of Flood-Damaged Regions in Sindh Province, Pakistan (2025–2029),” to boost agricultural productivity and water supply in the flood-affected areas of Sindh.

The Record of Discission (ROD) was signed by Mr. Je Ho Yeon, Country Director KOICA Pakistan Office and Mr. Najam Ahmed Shah, Chairman Planning & Development Board Government of Sindh.

Theprimary objective of this project is to rehabilitate flood-damaged farmland, strengthen agricultural productivity through improved irrigation infrastructure, establish solar-powered community water supply schemes to improve access to safe drinking water, and build the capacity of local farmers, government officials, and water user associations for sustainable agriculture and water management. The project period is from 2025 to 2029, with a generous contribution of US$8 million from KOICA through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the project will benefit nearly 19,000 people, including small-scale farmers and vulnerable householdsespecially in District Dadu, one of the most severely affected by the 2022 floods.

The collaboration between KOICA and Sindh Government reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development and proactive response to restore water infrastructure and agricultural productivity in flood-affected areas of Sindh.
