Sialkot ( NNP ) A grand function was organized in Sialkot on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day in which a large number of journalistic community participated. District Information Officer Syed Waqar Naqvi and his team also participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion of the event, District Information Officer Syed Waqar Naqvi and Junaid aftab said that journalists have always played an important role in the development of the country and this is the reason why journalism is also called the fourth pillar of the country. He said that today May 03, which is celebrated as the World Press Freedom Day, we should pledge that we will play our full and effective role in the development of the country and the nation by fulfilling our responsibilities in an efficient manner. Information officer further said that as District Information Officer, I stand by my journalist brothers in every way and I am present for them wherever they need me. A cake was cut in the ceremony and prayers were also offered for the martyred journalists. On this occasion, tributes were paid to the journalists who performed their journalistic responsibilities under unfavorable conditions, and at the end of the ceremony, pens were also distributed among the journalists.
