Islamabad (NNP) The conclusion of a three-day training course on “Certified Seed Potato Production” at the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) in Islamabad marks a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between Pakistan and Korea in agriculture. The training, organized under the Pakistan (PSDP) and Korea (RDA) joint project on “Pakistan-Korea Joint Program on Certified Seed Potato Production System”, the training saw esteemed guests including Dr. Imtiaz Hussain (Member Plant Sciences Division, PARC), Dr. Cho (Director, KOPIA Pakistan Center), Dr. Shaukat Ali (Director, NIGAB) and Dr. Kazim Ali (PI KOPIA project) addressing participants. Emphasizing the importance of certified seed potato production, Dr. Imtiaz highlighted its role in enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security. Dr. Cho showcased KOPIA’s aeroponic facilities aiding mass multiplication of potatoes, reducing import dependency. Sessions covered modern cultivation techniques, disease management, and quality control, engaging researchers and progressive farmers nationwide. Dr. Shaukat Ali and Dr. Kazim reiterated bilateral commitment to sustainable agriculture, foreseeing positive impacts on local farmers and economic growth. The training’s success signals a stride in revitalizing the agriculture sector and securing food for future generations, underlining the partnership’s potential for socio-economic development. At the end, certificates were distributed by the guests, Dr. Imtiaz Hussain, Dr. Cho, Dr. Kazim Ali and Dr. Shaukat Ali to the participants.
