ISLAMABAD NNP 24Nov,2025 The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Tuesday organised a roundtable conference at Serena Hotel, aiming to highlight the city’s industrial potential and strengthen its linkages with international markets. The session was chaired by GCCI President Ali Humayun Butt.
The event brought together senior office-bearers of the Chamber, including Senior Vice President Saad Jamil Irfani, Vice President Faisal Sattar Mughal, former presidents, executive committee members and representatives from various business associations.
A large number of diplomats — including ambassadors, high commissioners, trade counsellors and commercial attachés from Ukraine, Belarus, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Iran, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Kenya, Türkiye, Tajikistan, South Africa and Uzbekistan — attended the meeting and held discussions on trade prospects.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Butt said Gujranwala remained a backbone of Pakistan’s industrial base and had the capacity to produce goods that meet international standards. He said the Chamber sought to expand the city’s global footprint by facilitating direct engagement with foreign trade missions, diversifying export markets and enhancing the competitiveness of local industries.
He added that easing business operations, addressing industry challenges and ensuring Pakistan’s active participation in global trade were among GCCI’s key priorities.
During the conference, diplomats and trade representatives exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation, opportunities for expanding exports, demand for Gujranwala’s manufactured goods, and the preparedness of local industries to meet future requirements. A documentary titled Made in Gujranwala was also screened.
Participants expressed the hope that such international initiatives would pave the way for increased trade flows and contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s overall export performance. Ambassadors of Tajikistan and South Africa, along with the High Commissioners of Rwanda and Kenya, also shared remarks and presented trade-related documents from their respective countries.
