FIA Launches Project to Combat Cyber-Enabled Human Trafficking and Fraudulent Job Advertisements in collaboration with ICMPD

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) together with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD) has officially launched the FJA-PAK Project—“Preventing Fraudulent Job Advertisements and Cyber Activity as a Facilitator of Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Human Beings.” The initiative aims to curb cyber-enabled human trafficking and deceptive overseas job advertisements that prey on vulnerable jobseekers.

Funded by the Government of Norway and implemented in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the project will enhance FIA’s ability to detect, prevent, and dismantle online criminal networks involved in human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

The FJA-PAK project focuses on building robust cybercrime and anti-trafficking investigation capabilities within FIA, Strengthening referral mechanisms among FIA, Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), and other key institutions and launching public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on identifying and avoiding fraudulent job advertisements online.

The launch event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Ministry of Interior, BEOE, NCCIA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), PKCERT, and members of the diplomatic and development community.
