Rawalpindi, (31.08.2025NNP) – Shirakat Foundation (previously Shirakat – Partnership for Development), a national NGO, organized a certificate distribution ceremony at its Vocational and Technical Institute and Incubation Centre, Fazal Town, Rawalpindi under its Sustainable Livelihoods Program. The VTI offers computer classes, tailoring and beautician (make-up artistry) for young girls, enabling them to strengthen their abilities and prepare for future market opportunities.
The event celebrated the achievements of participants who successfully completed their training, designed to enhance technical skills and build confidence to excel in the job market. The initiative focuses on empowering women by equipping them with practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to establish small businesses, gain employment, and contribute to both household income and community development.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Farah Naz, Chairperson Shirakat highlighted the vital role of women in driving inclusive economic growth. “Women are not only transforming their own lives but also uplifting their families and communities. This program is a step toward creating a more equitable and sustainable future,” Ms. Farah Naz remarked.
Participants shared inspiring success stories of resilience, innovation, and growth. Certificates were awarded to acknowledge their hard work, dedication, and commitment to becoming agents of change within their communities.
Ms. Bilquis Tahira, Executive Director Shirakat described the importance of creating an eco-system whereby women can achieve their potential without fear of recrimination or discrimination. She emphasized the role of men supporting gender equality agenda and said men amplifying voices of women can effectively enhance women’s agency and voice and encourage their access to and control of resources.
Shirakat began its livelihoods progamme in 2011 and has since served over 6,000 women and youth providing them with skills through TVET and promoting their entrepreneurship and enhancing their income. Support has been provided to women in self-identification as businesswomen. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment and creating inclusive spaces where women and young girls can learn, grow, and lead.
