ATTOCK (NNP) On the recommendation of the Punjab Police Department, the most popular District Police Officer (DPO) of Attock district, Dr Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan has been selected for a course on merit for promotion to the rank of DIG.
He will remain in charge of the Attock Police Chief until the appointment of a new DPO.
During his two and a half year tenure from February 2023 to June 2025, DPO Ghiyas Gul Khan raised the police graph to new heights and rendered historic and exemplary services for the protection of the lives and property of the people.
His two and a half year tenure, robbers, bandits, extortionists, occupation groups, thieves, drug dealers and big criminals were eradicated and he achieved great success in numerous police encounters.
In these encounters, dozens of dacoits, murderers, rapists, kidnappers and drug dealers were killed and injured by their own comrades during the two-way firefight.
He took vigorous action against anarchists in Attock district and made the district peaceful, for which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar appreciated his performance.
While he was appreciated by the government for one performance, the DPO was always appreciated by the people, the elderly, the youth, women and children, for providing a peaceful environment to the people of Attock district. He had gained such popularity women and men expressed their desires on social media to take pictures with him.
The departure of DPO Dr Ghiyas Gul Khan on a promotion course has caused depression among the people of Attock district. Before departure various schools of thought met him at the DPO office and declared him their hero.
Nisar Ali Khan, Chief Coordinator of Attock Press Club Registered and Chief Executive of Chhachh news Network, also paid him a farewell visit and said that the height to which Ghiyas Gul Khan has taken the police graph unparalleled in history, nor will his void be filled in the future.
His appointment ensured the protection of the lives, property, honor and dignity of the people and upheld the rule of law. He paid glowing tribute to the DPO and termed his professional performance as historic and exemplary.
