Border Security and Internal Affairs: DG ISPR Addresses Key Issues

Rawalpindi (NNP) Major General Sharif, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), shed light on crucial matters during a recent press briefing, emphasizing the significance of border security amidst the one-document regime.

Addressing concerns regarding smuggling, Maj-Gen Sharif commended the decision to implement fencing measures, highlighting its role in curbing illicit activities.

On the prospect of a judicial commission, Maj-Gen Sharif expressed skepticism about its utility, suggesting instead a retrospective examination of the circumstances that led to current challenges. “If it must be formed, let it investigate how such malignancy infiltrated our society,” he remarked.

Responding to allegations by the JUI-F, he urged concrete evidence to be presented to relevant institutions rather than relying on unsubstantiated claims. Refusing to engage in a tit-for-tat, he emphasized the importance of due process.

Regarding the Bahawalnagar incident, Maj-Gen Sharif affirmed that security and police officials had successfully resolved the matter, dismissing it as part of a broader pattern of propaganda aimed at undermining the armed forces. He lauded the role of the police in combating terrorism and cautioned against efforts to sow division among state institutions.

Maj-Gen Sharif reiterated the commitment to resolving internal challenges amicably while emphasizing the ongoing inquiry to ascertain facts and hold those responsible accountable.
