(London) The recent protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the banner of the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee have taken many people by surprise. All of a sudden a dire situation has arisen. Peaceful protest is a right of every human being. The Government of AJK should have foreseen that a storm was brewing. Reasonable foresight is a skill that is needed for stable governance.
Unfortunately during the said protests loss of life has occured. A single loss of life is too many. This whole calamity could have been avoided if matters had been appropriately dealt with at an earlier stage. With state power huge responsibilities arise, which have to be dealt with in a sophisticated manner. If there is a further loss of life then further complications may arise. From the lessons of history we can conclude that in mass protests people from different political segments join up in a stated common cause but the approaches of individuals may differ, hence a matter may be taken into another direction. This matter is delicate and should be peacefully resolved by all parties involved as soon as possible.
If we look at outstanding global issues, disputes, conflicts, we may conclude that a clear and noble intention is needed inter alia with will power and foresight to solve any dispute or outstanding issue. Furthermore, a great amount of trust is needed to solve issues or disputes. If matters are not effectively dealt with in time then a domino effect may occur or further complications may arise. Sometimes one issue may give birth to another issue or a set of issues. Once a settlement is reached then a reasonable and practical timescale is needed to implement an agreement. Time is of the essence.
The Government of AJK should immediately work out a strategy to solve this crisis. All parties involved should be aware of the fact that the best way forward is to peacefully resolve the matter. Be it Northern Ireland or be it South Africa at the end of the day a comprehensive dialogue is the best way forward. Violence and bloodshed causes chaos which breeds further chaos.
A certain type of leadership is required in certain circumstances, where there is a Napoleon Bonaparte a Duke of Wellington is needed. In certain circumstances, a statesman with immense foresight is needed. Sometimes a Nelson Mandela is needed to bring about a political remedy and stability for the nation. I hope and believe that the Government of AJK shall resolve this matter swiftly, peacefully and bring back stability to the land that is called paradise on earth. I hope that there is no further loss of life, no further loss to property and that peace and tranquility prevails.
